Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients across a variety of diagnoses including lymphomas, neutropenia, prostatectomy, nephrectomy, gynecological cancers, lung cancers, anemia, and pancreatitis.
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and patient comfort.
• Monitor patient vital signs, interpret EKG strips, and assess for adverse reactions during treatments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and treatment responses.
• Comply with all safety standards, including BLS and ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Kentucky.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably with oncology or medical-surgical background.
• Ability to pass an advanced dysrhythmia EKG exam.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
• BLS and ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required.
• Must have a chemo certification or be willing to obtain one; chemo cert preferred.
• Must interpret EKG strips occasionally and handle specialized equipment such as portable monitors.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience with oncology treatments and patient education.
• Familiarity with oncology patient diagnoses and procedures.
• Knowledge of or experience with special procedures such as chemotherapy, biotherapy, and related protocols.
