Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to elementary students in grades K-1 within a self-contained classroom setting
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to support student growth and success
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and behavioral management
Required Qualifications
- Valid Special Education teaching license in Virginia
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a self-contained classroom environment
- Strong understanding of special education regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in elementary special education settings
- Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs
