Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiovascular ICU patients, including those post-cardiac surgery, with a focus on dysrhythmia management, ventilator support, and invasive monitoring.
• Interpret and respond to complex cardiac rhythms, manage multi-system organ failure, and administer medications such as continuous IV paralytics, sedatives, and vasoactive drugs.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, utilize PPE appropriately, and perform phlebotomy and wound care.
• Monitor and manage advanced cardiac devices, including intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and CVVHD/CRRT.
• Assist with patient care involving ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula, and interpret ABGs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and float to other campus locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license
• CPR and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in CVICU
• Ability to pass an EKG test
• Epic EMR experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, cardiac cath/interventional, and post-OP ICU management
• Familiarity with intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and CVVHD/CRRT
