Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac intensive care patients, including those post-cardiac surgery and with complex cardiac conditions.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, monitor multi-system organ failure, and oversee thermoregulation.
• Manage advanced cardiac devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, LVADs, RVADs, and assist with pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring.
• Administer and titrate medications, including continuous IV paralytics, sedatives, and vasoactive drips.
• Perform invasive procedures such as arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care.
• Support ventilated patients through ventilator management, including high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform suctioning via endotracheal tubes or nasotracheal tubes.
• Ensure infection prevention protocols, use of PPE, and isolation precautions are followed.
• Conduct phlebotomy and manage surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs.
• Assist with care of patients on CVA/acute stroke protocols and manage complex therapies like CVVHD/CRRT.

Required Qualifications

• Valid and active Illinois nursing license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in CVICU.
• Ability to pass an EKG test.
• Current CPR and ACLS certifications.
• Epic system experience.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience.
• Previous experience with cardiac devices such as Impella, LVAD, RVAD.
• Experience in managing post-cardiac surgery patients and interventions like cardiac catheterizations.
