Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients in a critical care setting.
• Manage complex conditions including dysrhythmias, post-cardiac surgery, and invasive procedures like TAVI/TAVR and CABG.
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, monitor arterial lines, and manage ventilated patients.
• Support patients with devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices.
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced ICU environment.
• Adhere to unit protocols and maintain high standards of patient safety and comfort.

Required Qualifications

• Valid IN state RN license in hand
• Minimum 18 months of recent ICU or CVICU experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH preferred
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Willingness to work 2/3 major holidays and flexible scheduling

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous charge nurse experience is a plus
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, VADs, and post-interventional care
• Familiarity with telemetry and ventilator management

• Facility: Short-term acute care hospital with 210 beds, specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
• Equipment: All private rooms with overhead lifts, advanced telemetry, and ventilator support.
• Note: In-state license and certifications must be current; local and out-of-state travelers are not accepted unless pending license.
• Shifts include 8, 10, or 12 hours to ensure 36-48 hours per week.
• Patient population includes CV surgery, oncology, and general medicine with flexible acuity levels.
