Key Responsibilities
- Assess and respond to the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients in the Endoscopy Unit, acting as a patient advocate.
- Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement and coordinate patient care.
- Communicate patient assessments to healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic procedures, including labs, radiology, and EKG, and perform IV therapy as needed.
- Accurately transcribe and implement physicians' orders, ensuring efficient patient admissions and documentation.
- Maintain detailed and timely documentation in clinical records, ensuring compliance with surgical procedures and patient safety protocols.
- Provide education and instructions to patients and their families regarding procedures and postoperative care.
- Manage supplies and resources effectively, adhering to policies to optimize costs without compromising patient care.
- Support housekeeping duties, including cleaning and bed-making, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Monitor airway, vital signs, and medication administration, consulting with physicians and anesthesiologists as needed.
- Participate as a float nurse when necessary, maintaining communication across departments to support workflow and staff coverage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, diagnostic measures, and IV therapy.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in operating room or endoscopy setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation.
- Experience providing patient education in a surgical or outpatient environment.
