Job Title

- Chesapeake, VA
Schedule / Job Type
- 13-week contract with possible extension; Nights shift; 3x12 or 4x12 schedules; OT after 48 hours; includes weekdays, every other weekend, holidays; float coverage as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient medical surgical and telemetry nursing care to patients
- Interpret telemetry readings and assess neurological/stroke patients
- Start IVs and administer medications as per physician orders
- Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure patient safety and quality care
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EPIC proficiency required)
- Respond to patient needs during complex care situations, including holidays and weekends
Required Qualifications
- Current Virginia or Compact State RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in medical-surgical or telemetry units, including neurology/stroke patient care
- EPIC electronic health record proficiency (no exceptions)
- Experience with IV starts and telemetry interpretation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Strong understanding of neuro/stroke protocols
- Experience working with diverse patient populations in fast-paced environments
