Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Labor and Delivery patients, including monitoring fetal and maternal health, managing high-risk deliveries, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean births.
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration, and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips.
• Assist with obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, shock, and high-risk deliveries, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Perform postpartum assessments, manage postpartum hemorrhage, and provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation.
• Document patient care accurately using Cerner electronic charting system and ensure proper unit procedures are followed.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 1.5 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
• Valid BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications (pending acceptable).
• Ability to float to other OB-specific areas or associated units while maintaining primary focus on Labor & Delivery.
• Availability to work 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, with guaranteed weekly hours.
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Travel experience in Labor and Delivery units.
• Experience managing high-volume birth facilities (200-300+ births/month).
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring, obstetric emergencies, and high-risk pregnancy protocols.
• Knowledge of complex obstetric interventions and neonatal resuscitation techniques.

- Local candidates are not being considered; this opportunity is for travel nurses.
- Nurses will be required to arrive 30 minutes early on their first shift at Methodist Hospital for orientation.
- Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are not permitted to work at IU Health facilities unless exempted.
