Key Responsibilities
• Provide patient care on a 51-bed Med-Surg with Telemetry unit, including bedside procedures such as NG tube insertion and peripheral IV placement.
• Interpret and respond to telemetry strip findings, applying telemetry certification skills.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless patient care and ensure safety.
• Work every other weekend and participate in holiday coverage as required, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Day.
• Adhere to unit protocols, use medical equipment such as Sigma IV pumps and GE EKG machines, and document care accurately in Epic.
• Support and communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members in a tight-knit community setting.
Required Qualifications
• Valid RN license in the state of Vermont (must be on file at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS must be completed prior to start date)
• Telemetry certification (preferred) or relevant experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in med-surg tele or 3 years of tele experience
• Prior travel experience in a facility with 300+ beds or previous experience at similar acute care facilities
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in holiday rotations
• Reliable transportation (personal or rental vehicle) with all-season/snow tires during winter months
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience with IV placement, telemetry interpretation, and responding to cardiac rhythms
• Prior work at a teaching hospital or UVMHN acute care setting
• Knowledge of additional unit-specific procedures and protocols
