Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking to provide comprehensive patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab/EP department.
  • Perform assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations of patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established policies, standards of care, and legal requirements.
  • Document all patient care accurately and thoroughly, adhering to organizational standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Educate patients and families, providing understandable information to support their health and recovery.
  • Participate in department performance improvement activities and shared governance initiatives.
  • Support clinical expertise and resource sharing across units to promote patient safety and continuity of care.
  • Manage complex clinical situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate issues to leadership when necessary.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and quality improvement efforts, including peer review processes.
  • Perform telephone triage, respond to patient inquiries, and ensure smooth patient flow in outpatient and clinical settings.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in critical care.
  • Current Illinois RN licensure.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Successful completion of EKG competency assessment prior to completing orientation.
  • Certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Cardiovascular intervention experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and patient management skills in high-acuity environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
