Key Responsibilities
• Provide assistance and support to surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and handing off instruments and equipment.
• Maintain a sterile field, ensuring all supplies and instruments are properly prepared and secured prior to procedures.
• Perform accurate instrument counts and handle specimens appropriately during surgery.
• Prepare patients' skin and assist with positioning and re-positioning during operations.
• Monitor patient safety throughout the surgical process and provide supportive care in the pre-operative phase.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques, safety protocols, and stay current with developments in surgical procedures and equipment.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medications used intraoperatively.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills related to surgical procedures and equipment.
• Assist in maintaining an effective and safe operating room environment.

Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school.
• Certified Surgical Technician credentials from NBSTSA or NCCT, or at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or equivalent.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Two or more years of current experience in a large operating room setting.
• Experience in orthopedic, ENT, or vascular surgery is a plus.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Epic is preferred but not required; on-site training available.
