Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, 36 hours per week, variable shifts including 2 days (7:00 am – 7:30 pm) and 1 overnight shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am); 13-week assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous, high-level surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and promptly notify nursing staff of any rhythm or rate changes.
- Collect data necessary for telemetry placement, configuration, and maintenance on patient admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Measure, interpret, and document patients’ heart rhythms accurately according to department standards.
- Perform EKG procedures, troubleshoot and ensure proper functioning of monitoring equipment, and maintain telemetry documentation.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clinical staff regarding patient cardiac rhythms and monitor status.
- Ensure accurate charting, proper charging of telemetry devices, and daily maintenance of telemetry equipment.
- Uphold high standards of practice and contribute to a positive patient and family experience in the clinical setting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of a clinical and professional development dysrhythmia course and EKG exam prior to orientation completion.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience monitoring ECG/dysrhythmia in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the heart.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical staff and the public.
- Strong communication skills with clear, concise verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods.
- Demonstrated responsibility for accuracy and timely responses to emergent and non-emergent requests.
