Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses, including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, osteomyelitis, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms.
• Titrate medication drips, primarily heparin, adhering to physician orders.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including oxygen therapy up to 6L NC, BIPAP/CPAP as needed.
• Document patient care accurately and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Participate in patient assessments and contribute to care planning.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, and other staff to ensure quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois RN license or active application in process.
• BLS certification.
• Experience with titration of medication drips, particularly heparin.
• Ability to read telemetry monitors, particularly Phillips brand monitors.
• Knowledge of hospital policies, including OSF call-off policy.
• Must produce a negative drug screen and understand the hospital’s drug-free campus policy.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior medical-surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with IV starts and inpatient blood draws.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced, diverse medical environment.
