Key Responsibilities

• Co-teach alongside general education teachers in classrooms with approximately 26 students.
• Serve as the case manager for students' IEPs, including lesson modifications and small group instruction.
• Develop and implement accessible, content-based curricula in collaboration with team members.
• Assess student progress using formal and informal methods.
• Support students' academic and socio-emotional development to foster overall growth.
• Communicate effectively with families and support teams to coordinate services.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred).
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
• High School and/or Middle School grade level teaching experience.
• Proven experience working within general education classrooms with supports.
• Experience working with students with disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, developmental delays).
• Experience working with diverse student populations in urban settings.
• Case management experience for students' IEPs, including modifications and small group support.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
• Strong lesson planning, organizational, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with special education laws, techniques, and best practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting students with special needs.
• Ability to assist with mobility or physical needs as per IEPs.
• Ability to lift and move classroom materials as required.
