Registered Nurse - Oncology
Location: Columbus, OH
Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, Nights shift, 13-16 week assignment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients in a Medical-Surgical Oncology unit with a focus on hematology and chemotherapy treatments.
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome.
- Monitor patient vitals, interpret dysrhythmias, and utilize telemetry for continuous cardiac monitoring.
- Perform IV therapy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and manage PICC lines and peripheral IVs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures are followed.
- Document patient care accurately using computerized charting systems such as EPIC.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a state with reciprocity.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Experience with MS/Tele and Telemetry monitoring.
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond to patient needs promptly.
- Proficiency in IV therapy, blood draws, and vascular access device management.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Prior experience in oncology or hematology units.
- Knowledge of oncologic procedures like tumor lysis syndrome management.
- Strong understanding of infection control and fall prevention protocols.
