Schedule / Job Type:

Full-time, Night shifts (4x12 or 3x12 nights, 1800-0630)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients in a high-volume, Level I trauma center with an 18-bed unit.
• Assist with various antepartum and postpartum procedures, including sterile speculum exams, fetal monitoring, and triage.
• Support labor and delivery processes, including assisting with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum recovery.
• Administer medications such as antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and prostaglandins, ensuring proper documentation and patient safety.
• Conduct neonatal assessments, including APGAR scoring, newborn care, and teaching parents post-discharge.
• Monitor fetal well-being through external and internal fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal patterns requiring intervention.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years’ obstetric nursing experience.
• Valid Illinois RN license or in process with ETA.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certification.
• Experience in antepartum, labor & delivery, high-risk obstetrics, and neonatal care.
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, and obstetric procedures.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Cerner charting system experience.
• Community hospital and Level I trauma center experience.
• Ability to float within scope to pediatric units based on need.
• Open to discussing schedule requests with management.
