- Night shifts, Full-time (4x12 or 3x12), nights (1800-0630)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the Labor & Delivery unit, including antepartum, high-risk, and postpartum patients.
- Assist with obstetrical procedures such as sterile speculum exams, fetal monitoring, NSTs, OCTs, and triage assessments.
- Manage high-risk deliveries, assist with vaginal and cesarean births, and respond to obstetric emergencies like hemorrhage and shock.
- Care for newborns post-delivery, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal assessments.
- Administer medications such as magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and antihypertensives; monitor fetal and maternal status throughout labor.
- Document care in Cerner and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or in application process with ETA
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in labor and delivery nursing
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certification
- Proficient in fetal monitoring, obstetrical assessment, and neonatal care procedures
- Knowledge of IV therapy, medication administration, and obstetric emergencies
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a community hospital setting with Level I Nursery or higher
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Comfort working in a Magnet or Level I trauma center
- Ability to float within scope to related units such as pediatrics as needed
