Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized perioperative nursing care in a Level I trauma center, covering all service lines except cardiovascular.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes across diverse cases, including trauma, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, and transplant procedures.
• Administer blood products, manage sterile procedures, and ensure infection control compliance.
• Assist with patient assessment, preparation, and post-operative care during various surgical procedures.
• Function within scope, adhering to hospital protocols and safety standards, including emergency response and radiation safety.
• Support the surgical team during complex cases such as laparoscopic, microvascular, and trauma surgeries.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or in application process.
• Minimum 3 years' recent experience in an operating room setting.
• General OR and trauma experience required.
• BLS certification required; CNOR preferred.
• Experience with laparoscopic-assisted cases, Level I trauma, and specialized surgical procedures.
• Cerner electronic health record experience preferred.
• Ability to work varied evening shifts, including one weekend per month, and on-call duties (approximately one week per month).
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases.
• Knowledge of complex procedures such as cervical fusion, craniotomy, organ donation, and trauma-related surgeries.
• Familiarity with surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables.
• Strong understanding of infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol procedures.
