Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care in a Level I trauma center for various service lines excluding cardiovascular.
• Assist with bariatric, general, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, trauma, and emergency cases.
• Administer blood products, maintain infection control, and ensure radiation safety.
• Prepare and operate equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables.
• Respond to code emergencies and manage fire safety, latex allergies, and malignant hyperthermia protocols.
• Facilitate specimen handling and labeling, perform urinary catheterizations, and adhere to universal protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of operating room nursing experience.
• Current active Illinois RN license or in the process of application.
• BLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferred.
• Experience in Level I trauma, general surgery, bariatric, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, trauma, and emergency management.
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting system preferred.
• Must have experience with laparoscopic-assisted surgeries, major trauma cases, and various specialized procedures (e.g., craniotomy, mastectomy, organ donation).
• Ability to float within scope if needed, though rarely occurs.
• Willingness to work 5×8-hour days, with 1 weekend shift per month and on-call requirement of 1 shift per week.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner charting system.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and infection control protocols.
• Experience in handling advanced surgical equipment and trauma situations.
