Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Wausau, WI

Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, rotating shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures, including general, gynecology, urology, ENT, and vascular surgeries.
• Assist with robotic-assisted surgeries, particularly in gynecology and general surgery, demonstrating high-level proficiency.
• Prepare and maintain sterile environments across multiple operating rooms, supporting a team of surgical staff.
• Utilize hospital systems such as EPIC EMR and Pyxis Med System for documentation and medication management.
• Collaborate with support staff, including coordinators, nurses, and physicians, to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal care.
• Support patients across the age spectrum, from adolescents to geriatrics, with minimal pediatric cases.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Wisconsin RN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in an operating room setting.
• Experience in general, gynecology, ENT, vascular surgeries.
• Robotic surgical experience in GYN and general surgery preferred; highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical procedures, and hospital electronic systems.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Additional experience in orthopedics, neuro, cardiovascular, family practice, or geriatrics.
• Familiarity with computerized charting, medication systems, and ancillary equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1.

Shift Details:

• Shifts range from early mornings (6:30 AM) to late afternoons (7:30 PM/7:30 PM to 7:30 PM), with backup call responsibilities.
• Call rotation includes one weeknight per week and weekend duties every 4th or 5th week, with additional backup call after hours.
• Length of assignment: ASAP through October 2.
