Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in a surgical Progressive Care Unit with acuity nearing ICU level, supporting cases such as ENT, thoracic, general surgery, and urology.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage complex cardiac drips, including non-titratable and titratable infusions, with proficiency in cardiac monitoring.
  • Safely care for patients with chest tubes, fresh trachs, feeding tubes, epidurals, and external BiPAP/CPAP devices.
  • Manage post-operative care, including care for patients with total laryngectomy and performing Doppler flap checks.
  • Cover unit charge nurse responsibilities when needed, with provided training.
  • Float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) as required, following floating policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU or PCU experience.
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips.
  • Certification in ACLS and BLS.
  • Ability to care for post-op surgical patients with multiple complex needs, including chest tubes, feeding tubes, and epidurals.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience caring for patients with total laryngectomy or requiring Doppler flap checks.
  • Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and titration.
  • Experience working in a high-acuity surgical unit, including ENT, thoracic, and general surgery cases.
  • Flexibility to float between different units and care levels as needed.
