Key Responsibilities
• Performs analyses on blood and other body fluids for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
• Prepares specimens, ensuring proper identification and documentation, and initiates testing accurately.
• Conducts manual and automated testing to determine qualitative and quantitative results, adhering to established procedures.
• Ensures quality control standards are met before releasing reports and repeats procedures if results appear inconsistent.
• Maintains organized work processes to reduce errors and reviews results for accuracy and completeness prior to reporting.
• Assists with training of laboratory personnel and participates in proficiency testing and quality assurance activities.
• Maintains laboratory equipment by performing daily checks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal operation.
• Monitors inventory and reagents, rotates stock, and suggests improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Performs specimen collection, verifying patient identification and communicating any delays or issues to relevant departments.
• Adheres to safety, infection control, and hospital policies, promoting a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with certification from ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform laboratory testing accurately and efficiently.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control practices.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Prior experience working in clinical laboratory settings.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to adapt to new procedures and instrumentation.
