Key Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization and reprocessing of surgical instruments and endoscopes in a busy central supply environment.
- Responsible for decontamination, prep, packaging, and sterilization procedures, including steam and low-temperature sterilization.
- Handle a variety of service lines such as robotics, general surgery, cardiovascular, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, dental, urology, and plastics.
- Operate specialized equipment including Olympus scopes, loaner trays, and DaVinci Robot Xi.
- Complete case pick and sterilization efficiently, meeting set time standards for various sterilization trays and sets.
- Assist with instrument maintenance and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Float between departments as needed to meet unit and patient care needs.
- Work required weekend shifts and participate in holiday coverage, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Required Qualifications
- CRCST certification through HSPA (mandatory; no other national certifications accepted).
- Minimum of 5 years of sterile processing experience, including recent case pick and sterilization work.
- At least 2 prior travel assignments of 13 weeks or more in similar settings.
- Experience in a level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more ORs.
- Proven competence in decontamination, prep, pack, steam sterilization, low-temperature sterilization, and endoscope reprocessing.
- Familiarity with Olympus scopes, loaner trays, and high-level disinfection of flexible scopes.
- Experience with service lines such as robotics, cardiovascular, ENT, neuro, orthopedics, plastics, urology, and endoscopy.
- Ability to process minor sets in less than 7 minutes, dental sets in under 4 minutes, and orthopedics trays within 15 minutes.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certification in CER, CIS, or CHL is a plus but not required.
- Experience with DaVinci Robot Xi and handling delicate instruments.
- Knowledge of patient care procedures associated with high-level disinfection and sterilization of various surgical instruments.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Additional Information
- Assignment is for 26 to 32 weeks, with bi-weekly orientations.
- Candidates must have a stable work history with detailed employment information.
- Reliable transportation is essential, as public transit is not available.
- Vehicles should be equipped for winter conditions (snow tires recommended from November to April).
- Travel rate is $65/hour with accommodation and travel allowances, and local rate is $55/hour for shifts within 50 miles, $60/hour for 51-100 miles.
- Must be flexible to work Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling.
