• Night shifts (7p-7a, 11p-11a rotations)

Key Responsibilities
• Provide compassionate emergency care to adult and pediatric patients in a busy Level 3 trauma ER setting
• Manage patient assessments, administer treatments, and monitor vital signs using EPIC electronic medical records and Phillips monitors
• Start IVs, draw labs, and manage medications including drips with pharmacy support
• Support ventilated and respiratory patients, including ventilator management and respiratory treatments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including ancillary staff, crisis clinicians, and advanced practice providers
• Ensure highest standards of patient safety and compliance with hospital protocols

Required Qualifications
• NY license or proof of application (processing time 6-8 weeks)
• Minimum of 1 year of ER or emergency department experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (active or proof of class prior to start)
• NIHSS certification (required prior to start)
• Epic EMR experience within the last 2 years
• Ability to work with high patient ratios (1:4-1:5) in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Charge nurse experience in ER preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience managing diverse patient conditions including psychiatric, COVID, and boarded patients

Additional Information
• Travel rate: $105/hour; local rate: $95/hour within 50 miles; distance measured straight-line
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) without call responsibilities
• Reliable transportation with all-season tires recommended, as public transit is unavailable
• Orientation: 20-24 hours prior to start; scheduled on Mondays, specifics to be confirmed
• No block scheduling; self-scheduling available
• Dress code: Navy Blue and white scrubs; closed-toe shoes; minimal jewelry; professional appearance
• Staffing details: 3 nurses per shift; additional staff include CNA/PCT, unit clerks, crisis clinicians, and advanced practice nurses
• Responsible for boarding patients, psychiatric, COVID, and other complex cases; fast transfer protocol for crit patients to ICU
• Strict policy on cell phone use during shifts, with zero tolerance for distractions

Note: This position is based at a hospital with 341 beds, located in Plattsburgh, NY, with a dedicated ER unit of 29 beds, including fast track and behavioral health beds.
