Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic patients during pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
• Monitor patient status and responses, utilizing specialized orthopedic equipment such as CPM, knee immobilizers, and bone foam.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist with patient education and discharge planning related to orthopedic procedures.
• Document care and maintain compliance with hospital protocols using EPIC electronic medical records.
• Adhere to safe patient handling practices and use of appropriate orthopedic equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with orthopedic or trauma background preferred.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
• Valid RN license in North Carolina.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Knowledge of orthopedic procedures and equipment including CPM, knee immobilizers, and orthopedic trauma protocols.
• Ability to answer the mandatory questionnaire accurately and efficiently.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with elective orthopedic surgeries, total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements or repairs.
• Familiarity with rapid response teams and orthopedic trauma care.
• Ability to manage a 1:6 or stretch to 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-acuity environment.
• Knowledge of safe patient handling techniques and orthopedic-specific devices.
