Registered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location: Lafayette, IN

Schedule / Job Type: Night shifts, full-time, contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor patients in intermediate care, PCU, and stepdown units, including cardiac and telemetry patients
  • Provide high-quality nursing care with a focus on cardiac, vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Administer medications and perform IV starts
  • Respond to patient needs, including crisis and emergency situations, with appropriate interventions
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
  • Adhere to hospital protocols and maintain compliance with certification and licensing requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 months recent charge nursing experience in a critical care or stepdown setting
  • Active Indiana RN license (or valid state license; IN license required prior to start)
  • Certs: ACLS and BLS (NIH preferred)
  • Must have telemetry experience, including cardiac and vasoactive drip management
  • Ability to work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Willingness to float within scope as needed
  • Successful completion of background check and compliance with facility requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Experience with cardiac patients, including use of BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and cardiac meds
  • Prior charge nurse or leadership experience in a stepdown or ICU setting
  • Familiarity with Cerner charting system
  • Knowledge of ventilator management and sedation protocols
