Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and maintaining logs.
- Set up and tear down operating rooms according to sterile technique protocols.
- Work closely with surgeons during procedures to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist with gastrointestinal procedures and update surgical preference cards.
- Perform accurate counts of sponges and instruments, label medications on the sterile field, and participate in inventory management.
- Adhere to all safety standards, including AORN guidelines, and participate in the "Time Out" process.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and participate in staff committees as assigned.
- Perform duties of a Sterile Processing Technician and assist with other perioperative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
- Proficiency in at least three surgical service lines.
- Current Colorado license or multistate license, or authorization from the Colorado Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through AHA.
- Immunizations including MMR, Varicella-Zoster, Hep B, and proof of immunity.
- Recent TB test (QuantiFERON) within the last year.
- Negative drug screen within the last 30 days.
- Valid resume and professional references.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience assisting with gastrointestinal procedures.
- Familiarity with inventory management and preference card updates.
- Strong understanding of sterile processing and operating room protocols.
