Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac surgery patients in the CVOR unit.
• Assist with procedures such as CABG, valve repairs/replacements, TAVR, TMVR, and other cardiovascular surgeries.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care, including monitoring vital signs, patient assessments, and documentation.
• Maintain equipment and surgical instruments, adhering to safety and sterilization protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotations, including weeknights and weekends, to support continuous patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Texas or compact state.
• CVOR nursing experience, specifically in cardiovascular surgery settings.
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Experience with surgical equipment such as Bovie cautery, EVH, laparoscopic towers, and specialized cardiovascular devices.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Meditech.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and flexibility skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Additional experience with cardiac procedures such as AAA endovascular, AVR, or IABP management.
• Familiarity with unit policies and guidelines related to cardiovascular surgical care.
• Ability to adapt to new equipment or technology advances in the cardiac surgery environment.
• Schedule flexibility and a team-oriented, professional attitude.
