Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a busy Level 3 Trauma ER setting.
- Manage high patient volumes with nurse-to-patient ratios often exceeding 1:4, including boarded and psychiatric patients.
- Perform advanced procedures such as IV starts, EKGs, medication administration via Pyxis, and ventilator management.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including respiratory and crisis clinicians, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using Epic EMR system; ensure compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current with facility procedures and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- NY State RN license or application proof with applied date (expected licensing time 6-8 weeks).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent ER nursing experience.
- Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (or proof of class completion prior to start).
- NIHSS certification required prior to start.
- Epic EMR system experience within the past 2 years.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, as public transit is not available.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
- Charge nurse experience and proficiency with high-acuity patient care.
- Experience managing ventilators and advanced airway protocols.
- Strong ability to handle high patient ratios and fluctuating census scenarios.

Additional Information
- Orientation includes 20–24 hours; shifts are scheduled between 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-11p with rotating schedules.
- No blocked scheduling; self-scheduling offered.
- Holiday coverage required; travelers must work 2 out of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle required; vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November to April.
- Uniform: Navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe shoes; no artificial nail polish.
- All work history details, including bed count, facility type, and EMR experience, must be thorough for submission.
- COVID and psychiatric patient care may be part of daily duties; strict no cell phone or earbud policy enforced.
