Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, Night Shift, 36 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care for medical-surgical unit patients, including those requiring heparin and insulin management.
- Administer medications and monitor patient status using systems such as Pyxis and EPIC.
- Collaborate with healthcare team using SBAR communication for efficient patient care.
- Adhere to unit protocols, including maintaining nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:6-7.
- Complete a 24-hour unit orientation and pass an EKG test for certification.
- Float to similar units as needed, at least once a week, including working during holidays and every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of registered nurse experience in a medical-surgical setting.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Experience with medication administration, including Heparin and Insulin.
- Ability to pass an EKG proficiency test.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior traveler experience is not required but beneficial.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, variable staffing environments such as storm or disaster teams.
- Familiarity with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication tools.
