Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type:

Full-time, 12-hour Night shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to a busy cardiac and stroke unit, including stable post- and pre-procedure cardiac patients.
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, and others.
• Monitor and respond to telemetry and high-flow oxygen therapy, including BIPAP and non-rebreather mask use.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and ongoing care for complex cardiac patients.
• Collaborate with a team lead to ensure efficient unit operation, turnover, and patient safety.
• Uphold unit protocols, including rapid patient turnover and fast-paced environment management.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a cardiac or telemetry unit.
• Valid RN license.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale.
• Experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac drips.
• Ability to handle a patient load of up to 6 patients comfortably.
• Pass EKG testing prior to start.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience caring for COVID-positive patients using opti-flow and BIPAP.
• Familiarity with high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical units.
• Ability to work independently with minimal block scheduling.
• Comfort working in a unit with high patient turnover.
