- Full-time, onsite, dayshift, 8 hours per shift, 5 days per week
Key Responsibilities
- Administer safe and accurate radiation therapy treatments while ensuring proper data capture and documentation.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment, and operate complex radiation-emitting devices with manual dexterity.
- Monitor patients visually and report any unusual reactions or events to the radiation oncologist; reinforce treatment and care instructions to patients.
- Maintain accurate treatment and simulation records, including machine quality assurance and adherence to departmental protocols.
- Participate in clinical planning, educational activities, and ongoing competency assessments; facilitate learning for students and peers.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, safety guidelines, and quality assurance practices, including consent verification and equipment checks.
- Complete specialized treatment procedures such as immobilization techniques, CT simulation, and complex radiation delivery systems, including the use of advanced technology like Active Breathing Coordinator and endorectal balloons.
- Assist in onsite training and supervision of new staff and students; participate in department and institutional learning initiatives.
- Perform additional duties related to radiation therapy as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiation therapy program or equivalent.
- Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy.
- Licensed or certified by the Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program of the State of New Mexico within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Ability to complete on-call new start clinical procedures and calculations.
- Experience with electron fields, prostate immobilization, and multi-technique radiation delivery.
- Skilled in CT simulation, including immobilization device production and treatment site simulation (CNS, Head and Neck, Lung, GYN, G/I, GU, Extremity, Breast).
- Proficiency with quality assurance for CT simulators and related systems.
