Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for surgical patients, trauma, medical overflow, wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, and central lines.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, utilizing critical thinking skills and asking for assistance when needed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care and maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Administer medications, including titratable drips such as Heparin, and manage bedside equipment.
• Assist with patient mobility, vital signs, accu checks, and ADL's with patient care technicians.
• Document patient information accurately and participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation of application initiation
• BLS certification
• Experience in post-op surgical care, trauma, or medical overflow settings
• Knowledge of IV therapy, wound care, and pain management procedures
• Strong bedside manner and teamwork skills
• Ability to critically evaluate patient needs and prioritize care

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (Phillips monitors) and troubleshooting respiratory equipment (CPAP, high flow, nebulizers)
• Experience with central line management and TPN administration
• Ability to float to similar units as needed and work effectively in high-pressure situations
