Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate activities with hospital departments, including scheduling, patient transport, and billing documentation.
  • Assist cardiologists during exams by preparing and measuring M-modes and exchanging pertinent diagnostic information.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and supply levels of the echocardiography lab.
  • Ensure equipment quality and perform routine maintenance; coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support on-call coverage for emergency echocardiography exams outside of regular hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification/licensing: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation.
  • State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
  • BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; two-year allied health education program related to patient care.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • At least two years of experience performing echocardiograms.
  • Experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
