Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adult patients on telemetry, including monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, administering medications, and managing bedside procedures such as NG tube and peripheral IV insertions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless delivery of care and accurate documentation within Epic EMR system.
- Respond actively to telemetry alarms and patient needs, applying tele-specific skills including rhythm recognition and intervention.
- Work every other weekend and participate in holiday coverage (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day).
- Insert and manage NG tubes, peripheral IVs, and interpret telemetry strips bedside, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Adhere to hospital protocols, dress code standards, and safety guidelines, including proper PPE and personal presentation.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in Vermont or eligible to license.
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required prior to start.
- Telemetry certification strongly preferred or must be obtained shortly after placement.
- Minimum 5 years’ med-surg telemetry experience or 3 years of telemetry experience.
- Prior travel experience in similar acute care settings.
- Experience with EPIC EMR system within the past 2 years.
- Proven ability to work with patients with diverse conditions such as post-op, COPD, CHF, diabetics, dementia, and end-of-life care.
- Reliable transportation, as public transit is unavailable in the area.
- Capable of completing two travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities or previous experience at related UVMHN facilities.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, with the flexibility for additional shifts.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience inserting NG tubes and peripheral IVs bedside.
- Previous employment in high-acuity or teaching hospitals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a tight-knit team.
- Strong communication skills suited for patient, family, and team interactions.
