Schedule / Job Type

• Rotating shifts, 12-hour shifts; 3 shifts per week; assignments ranging from 16 to 32 weeks; bi-weekly orientation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for cardiac progressive care, stepdown, and telemetry units with a focus on cardiothoracic, vascular, and surgical patients
• Float to similar units as needed to ensure patient care coverage
• Manage post-op patients, including those with open or closed hearts, within a cardiac stepdown environment
• Adhere to hospital protocols and safely perform duties across multiple units
• Collaborate with healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care during complex postoperative recoveries
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ RN experience, including at least 1 year in a similar unit setting
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification prior to start required
• Large trauma level 1 experience within the past year
• Recent Epic EMR experience (within last 2 years)
• Vascular and cardiothoracic nursing experience
• Post-op 1-day hearts open/closed patient experience
• Active RN license in the state of Vermont or appropriate compact state

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PCCN certification preferred
• Experience working with post-surgical cardiac patients, including CABG and valve procedures
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
