Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week, no block scheduling, self-scheduling with online program, bi-weekly orientation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide acute Med-Surg care with telemetry monitoring, interpreting rhythms, and responding proactively
- Perform NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and bedside telemetry strip interpretation
- Collaborate with a team to deliver seamless patient care, supporting patients with diverse diagnoses such as post-op, COPD, CHF, diabetics, and end-of-life care
- Document patient information accurately using Epic EMR system and manage medications via Pyxis
- Assist with patient education and provide compassionate support to patients and families during hospitalization
Required Qualifications
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS prior to start)
- Telemetry certification (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of Med-Surg Telemetry experience or 3 years of Telemetry experience
- Prior travel nursing experience, with at least 2 travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities or experience at a UVMHN acute care facility
- Recent Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation; vehicles should be equipped for winter conditions (all-season or snow tires)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with peripheral IV placement
- Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting Sigma IV pumps, GE EKG machines, Stryker beds, and other patient monitoring equipment
