  • Rotating shifts, full-time (4 shifts per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment for MEMC Operating Room
  • Support decontamination and sterilization processes for other services as workload permits
  • Completely disassemble instruments and equipment to remove debris and biological matter prior to sterilization or high-level disinfection
  • Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment, following established policies, manufacturer instructions, and industry guidelines
  • Maintain detailed records of sterilization procedures, including biological monitoring, validation, and quality assurance checks
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff to troubleshoot instrument shortages and offer alternative solutions
  • Verify equipment functionality, coordinate maintenance or repairs, and document issues
  • Stay current with sterilization practices through ongoing education and competency validation
  • Assist in training team members on sterilization processes as needed
  • Perform supply management duties, including product ordering, inventory checks, and basic stock replenishment at designated facilities

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HPSA)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control, surgical instrumentation, sterile techniques, and inventory management preferred
  • Strong communication skills, detail orientation, and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency with computer systems related to inventory and record keeping
