Schedule / Job Type

  • Rotating shifts, 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week, temporary assignment for approximately 16-32 weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care to cardiac, surgical, and trauma patients in a Medical Intermediate Care/Progressive Care/Stepdown unit
  • Float to similar units as needed, including post-op cardiac patients and those with complex diagnoses
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Monitor patient progress, administer medications, and respond to clinical changes
  • Document patient information accurately within the electronic medical record system
  • Participate in bi-weekly orientation and adhere to hospital policies and protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' registered nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS required prior to start)
  • Experience working within a Level 1 Trauma Center in the past year
  • Epic EMR experience within the last 2 years (non-negotiable)
  • Cardiac, vascular, or cardiothoracic post-op experience (1-day post-op hearts open/closed)
  • Ability to travel, with willingness to work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • PCCN certification preferred but not required
  • Large trauma level 1 hospital experience within the last year
  • Experience with IV therapy and complex cardiac patients

Additional Information

  • Travel rate: $100; local rate: $95; nearby: $90
  • Work hours are 12-hour shifts, with no block scheduling
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
  • Reliable transportation is required; public transit is not accessible
  • Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November to April
  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions; next availability is 12/15
  • Complete all work history details (bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.) for submission
