Key Responsibilities

• Co-teach alongside general education teachers in a high school setting serving approximately 26 students.
• Serve as the case manager for students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including lesson modifications and small group support.
• Develop and implement accessible, standards-based curricula in collaboration with the educational team.
• Assess and monitor student progress through formal and informal methods to inform instruction.
• Support students' academic and socio-emotional development to promote overall success.
• Communicate effectively with families, support staff, and administrators to coordinate student services.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
• Prior experience working with high school students with disabilities.
• Experience in co-teaching within a general education classroom.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Experience working with diverse student populations in urban settings.
• Familiarity with IEP management, lesson modifications, and progress monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
