Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care for medical-surgical patients, primarily with Oncology history.
  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, IV medications, PO, or injections.
  • Monitor and manage patient conditions including AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, and other diagnoses.
  • Perform procedures such as colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and wound care.
  • Utilize unit systems including PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR for medication and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal care.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years inpatient RN experience, Med/Surg background.
  • Proficiency in peripheral line care, central lines, PICC lines, and blood draws.
  • Ability to manage complex patient needs including surgical drains, chest tubes, and airway management.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
  • Active RN license in the state of North Carolina.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • CPI certification.
  • Charge nurse experience.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred but not required.

Additional Notes

  • Shifts are 12-hour nights.
  • RTO (Reasonable Time Off) is restricted to a maximum of 7 days; no exceptions for on-site work or call outs—any additional RTO may result in cancellation.
  • Call required if called off on scheduled shift.
  • Floating to similar units and alternate inpatient locations is expected.
  • May be assigned to storm or hurricane teams and required to work during disasters or mass casualty events.
  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings is expected.
  • Orientation consists of 24 hours (2 shifts).
  • Scrubs required: Navy Blue and White.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
