Key Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures across a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Trauma, and Urology
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments
• Handle specimen labeling, specimen handling, and equipment setup
• Support anesthesia and operative team in maintaining patient safety and aseptic techniques
• Float within scope of practice to meet department needs and support other units as required
• Comply with all safety and regulatory protocols, including radiation and sharps safety

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical tech experience in a hospital setting
• Valid IL license in hand at submission
• BLS required; CST preferred
• Experience with endoscopic, ENT, general, gynecological, neurosurgical, orthopedic, plastic, trauma, and urology procedures
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Ability to work in a Level I trauma hospital setting

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous experience in teaching hospitals
• Trauma Level I experience
• Familiarity with a wide range of surgical procedures including microvascular and complex trauma surgeries
• Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays as required

Work Details

• Address: 701 North 1st Street, Springfield, IL 62781
• Shifts: Day shift (8 hours), 5 days per week, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
• Travel compliance required; candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Floating within hospital or to nearby facilities required
• All qualifications and compliance modules to be completed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have IL license in hand at submission or arrive 3 business days prior for fingerprinting if no license required
• RTO requests must be discussed and approved by management, with up to 5 days allowed for non-holiday time off
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
• Candidates will be subject to background checks, compliance policies, and module requirements prior to start
