Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the IMC, PCU, and Stepdown units, managing an average census of 8 patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, Covid-19, post-op knees, hips, and falls.
  • Collaborate with a team of RNs and LPNs using team nursing approaches to care for 7 patients per nurse, maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
  • Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and pressors, in ICU and IMCU settings.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, including remote monitoring, ensuring accurate assessment and timely intervention.
  • Support charge nurse or house supervisor duties as needed, including assuming a small patient assignment and stepping into charge roles during shifts.
  • Utilize Vented patient transfer equipment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols, including wearing any solid color scrubs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in PCU (Med Surg Telemetry) or ICU, with excellent patient care and documentation skills.
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
  • Experience with Cerner EHR system.
  • Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry strips.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience working in IMCU, ICU, or stepdown units.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including every 3rd weekend and 2 out of 3 holidays.
  • Previous travel nursing experience or the ability to work as part of a travel duo.
  • Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring systems, specifically Eau Claire monitors.

Additional Details

  • Shifts are 12 hours, with scheduling flexibility and self-scheduling options.
  • Floating to other units or emergency department coverage may be required; willingness to float is preferred.
  • On-call and standby responsibilities with a 45-minute response time.
  • Must clock in and out at the facility; clinicians previously employed within the last 6 months must note previous employment date.
