Key Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records for completeness and accuracy related to severity of illness and risk of mortality.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to suggest additional or more specific documentation.
• Collaborate with health information management coding staff to ensure discharge diagnoses and co-morbidities accurately reflect the patient's clinical status.
• Support clinical documentation efforts to improve accuracy for coding and reimbursement purposes.
• Work with electronic health record systems to review and document clinical information.

Required Qualifications

• 2–3 years of previous Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience.
• Experience working with ICD-10 coding.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Solventum (formerly 3M), or Iodine.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with utilization management or case management is a plus.
• Prior experience in outpatient, clinic, or ambulatory care settings is preferred but not mandatory.
