Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver safe, therapeutic, and efficient nursing care for residents across all age groups, considering individual conditions and treatment plans
• Implement and document nursing procedures following physician’s orders, standards of care, and departmental policies
• Assess residents through thorough nursing evaluations, including initial assessments, ongoing monitoring, and reassessment to update care plans
• Educate residents and families about health conditions, tests, procedures, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and health management
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate resident care, addressing both physical and psychosocial needs, and provide emotional support
• Supervise and delegate tasks to CNA/Tech, LPN, and Ward Clerk staff, ensuring proper care delivery and compliance with clinical guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Current Alaska Registered Nurse license or active license in another U.S. state (applying for Alaska license required for hires)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Clinical competency verified within 3 months of hire and every 3 years; High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually
• Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Knowledge of nursing care principles, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Familiarity with medical equipment operation and monitoring, including AED use
• Strong communication skills for accurate data entry and effective teamwork
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and make sound clinical judgments
• Experience working in long-term care or skilled nursing settings is a plus
