Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver safe, therapeutic, and efficient nursing care for residents across all age groups, considering individual conditions and treatment plans
- Implement and document nursing procedures following physician’s orders, standards of care, and departmental policies
- Assess residents through thorough nursing evaluations, including initial assessments, ongoing monitoring, and reassessment to update care plans
- Educate residents and families about health conditions, tests, procedures, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and health management
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate resident care, addressing both physical and psychosocial needs, and provide emotional support
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNA/Tech, LPN, and Ward Clerk staff, ensuring proper care delivery and compliance with clinical guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Current Alaska Registered Nurse license or active license in another U.S. state (applying for Alaska license required for hires)
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Clinical competency verified within 3 months of hire and every 3 years; High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Knowledge of nursing care principles, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation and monitoring, including AED use
- Strong communication skills for accurate data entry and effective teamwork
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and make sound clinical judgments
- Experience working in long-term care or skilled nursing settings is a plus
