Key Responsibilities
• Assist in surgical procedures by preparing operative sites, instruments, and supplies.
• Maintain sterile environment and ensure infection control standards are met.
• Support surgical team before, during, and after procedures across various specialties.
• Float within scope of practice to meet the department's needs.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including aseptic technique and radiation safety.
• Document procedures accurately in designated charting systems.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of surgical technology experience.
• Current Illinois licensure (license must be in hand at submission).
• BLS certification required; CST preferred.
• Experience in general, ENT, endoscopic, gynecological, neurosurgery, oral, orthopedic, plastic, trauma, urology, and emergency procedures.
• Proficiency with surgical equipment, including drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control, and safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital environment.
• Must be in IL at least 3 business days prior to compliance requirements.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Trauma Level I experience.
• Experience with complex surgical cases such as craniotomies, joint replacements, breast surgeries, and microvascular procedures.
• Knowledge of Cerner charting system.
