Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular-focused ICU setting, including management of post-cardiac surgery patients, pre/post cardiac cath and intervention, and valve replacement/repair cases
• Monitor and manage hemodynamic support devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines
• Administer and titrate continuous IV medications including cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, sedation, and neuromuscular blockade agents
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), BiPAP/CPAP assistance, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Perform IV therapy including arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, port access, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Float to other ICU units within the health system as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular ICU experience
• Active Illinois RN License
• Current CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Demonstrated competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, CABG, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, lumbar drains, surgical wounds with drains/wound vac, and infection prevention/isolation precautions
• Must achieve a passing score of 80% or above on an EKG competency test prior to placement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with advanced cardiac support devices including Impella and ECMO
• Experience managing the care of LVAD patients
• Charge nurse experience
