Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments, including initial screenings and age, culture, and psychosocially appropriate reassessments.
• Determine treatment requirements such as therapy type, method, duration, precautions, and medication dosages in accordance with physician orders.
• Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry; consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
• Prepare and administer respiratory medications demonstrating knowledge of outcomes and side effects based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary function tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests; adjust equipment to optimize therapy results.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in both electronic and paper patient records; ensure equipment cleaning, calibration, and proper documentation are completed.

Required Qualifications

• Current Illinois Respiratory Therapist License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete work in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
