Stressful weeks – 4 Tips on How to Manage

Morgan Henry

Stressful week? Feeling burnt out?

We get it, we’ve been there.

The holidays especially can add extra stress to many of us.

Many of our thoughts are counting down till the weekend, feeling exhausted and looking for a quick win to be able to relax a little.

On the weekends do you find yourself binging a Netflix series, staying up late and sleeping in the next day or seeking food to fill a void?

How do you feel after?  Do you feel better?

For most of us the answer is NO!

If spending your time on these meaningless things doesn’t change your mood, then try to reduce the amount of time you spend on them.

Unhealthy habits that we use to attempt to numb our stress or fears normally change nothing. That stress you are avoiding is still there when you start the week.

We can try to run away from our thoughts and feelings but eventually, they come back.

So, instead of hiding from – use these tips to help you face the situations that are causing you stress.

  • Acknowledge your feelings: Slow down, take a deep breath and acknowledge why you may be having these feelings.
  • Be realistic: Things aren’t always normal or easy.  Accept what you are feeling.
  • Find the positive: Focus on the good and push aside all the negativity.
  • Take care of yourself: Self care is important, so spend time doing activities that bring you joy.

Once you accept and start to face your stressors, they seem a LOT less scary.

Our stress is so often caused by the unknown – and scenarios we create in our head.

The “What If’s” can be scary, but when we gently face these situations, we realize that with each step we make we are capable of facing these situations and they seem much more manageable.
