It has been almost a month since many of us were advised to stay in place.
At this point most of us have adopted a work from home routine.
We can safely say we are now settling into this new normal.
We hope you did not get comfortable.
Because it’s almost time to go back!
As the states slowly reopen many of us “non essential workers” will head back to the office.
But it won’t look the same and we will have to get used to a new way to interact at work.
Here is how things may look when it’s your turn to be released from quarantine.
- Social distancing will continue – Office hangouts will (and should be) discouraged until we are sure the virus is no longer a threat. Hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes and frequent hand washing practices will continue to be a BIG part of our lives.
- Anticipate the possibility of being sent home again – Employees may return to the office for a brief period while companies determine opportunities to reduce staff congregation based on personal preferences and business demands. The capacity of the workplace may continue to be significantly reduced due to social distancing requirements that will continue to be enforced.
- Safety protocols and screening procedures for employees, visitors and contractors will be ongoing. Consider the possibility of staggered work times to reduce the number of employees in the office at the same time. Lunch and break times may be scheduled or lengthened to minimize occupant loads.
- Childcare may still not be available – One major obstacle when reopening will be child care. Going back to work will look a lot different and may not be possible for parents with school aged children.
- Virtual meetings will continue to be the go to way to meet with people outside of your workspace.
We can expect that this limited and restricted form of contact may continue until the end of Summer.

Be patient as we (literally) get back to business. This is uncharted waters for most of us, and try to remember that what is most important is our health and safety.
